Adding to the collection of horses, although this one is desperately short of form with it's rather wild HA.

Have had no luck imaging much at all, other than planets. This sub 2 hour version of the horse and flame was a hands on affair, with adjustments made on the fly to match exposure times and windows in the low cloud: a big cloud gap meant I could get in some Ha, small gaps were assigned on the fly to channels that seemed to be most affected by cloud. Then processing it was another learning curve (AGAIN) dealing as best I could with the little amount of data. In the end I got an image but wouldn't say it's particularly faithful to the object. Was glad to sneak in a nod to the galaxy PGC 147737.

I think it looks pretty faithful, classic "film" look with vibrant colour, very nice

Oooohh that's nice. As Mike said, the classic representation and rich colour plus it's very sharp.

I am surprised it turned out so well given the little exposure time. A testament to your excellent processing.

Greg.

I guess it was more the way I went about adding Ha to the red channel (a handy Shawn Nielsen PixInsight script) that was based more on an aesthetic choice, than a studied addition that references some of the awesome images I can find here. I did try to keep something of the initial LRGB colour when adding the Ha however so glad if that comes across.

Ha. Me too! Oddly I think the intervention of clouds in some subs made me much more fussy about what subs I decided to keep. Sad not to be able to drizzle the image though. The Esprit 100/ASI2600 combo really seems to benefit from this.

Ben,

as I said on Astrobin - this is a testimony to mono imaging. not much integration time but fantastic result

Beautiful! I always wanted to know how to get that luminous effect from the red channel especially. I just can never do it. Great work

A great result Ben and worth the effort put in chasing the data
