Here is my next image, IC 2118 or know as the Witch head nebula. It’s an extremely faint reflection nebula illuminated by the nearby star Rigel in Orion. The witch head is about 900 light yrs away from Earth. The nature of the dust particles, reflecting blue light better than red, is a factor in giving the Witch Head its blue colour.

As the wet season has set in, January has pretty much been cloudy almost every night this month where I live in the mountains, I have only managed to get 5hrs of data at 4min subs unguided.

Thanks Greg, this was also my first time capturing this object. Still turned out pretty good despite the lack of data. I’m hoping February will be better for night skies.

May not be a gluttonous amount of data but it’s showing all of the dust very nicely and without a lot of colour mottling
