Nice work Shane. All those horrible bands are called posterisation, an artefact of compression. Your image was probably posterised by the forum image compression engine.

Uploaded images to this forum get compressed to a maximum file size of 200KB. You uploaded a 24MPx image, 4000x6000 pixels. The image compressor won't change the pixel dimensions, so the only thing the image compressor could do was to posterise the tonal scale to get your image in the file size range.

Try downsizing the pixel dimensions of a copy your original image to no more than 2000 pixels wide then save that as a jpg yourself. Check that the file size is near 200kb. If the image compressor doesn't have to compress, it won't posterise your image.

Hope to see an unspoiled version of your image.

regards

Joe

Pretty decent image there, Shane, some easily noticeable split tail, and yeah the core very much seems fragmented for lack of a better term, nice going indeed.

I wonder what the more capable observations and astronomers are perceiving from this event ?
Yes some image compression working overtime but good to see that core with some magnification, almost appears to have split in two, but no real brightness confirming two smaller cores - or maybe just needs more magnification, hence mentioning more capable observatories..

Cheers..
