Solar activity has picked up again during January with some nice sunspots at the moment. Image 1 shows the active regions with AR numbers. Most spots are in the northern hemisphere. This image is a single exposure taken with a Canon 550d camera attached to a WO 81 mm refractor with Herschel wedge at 540 nm. The second and third images are also single exposures with the same camera attached to a 100 mm Lunt solar telescope at 656 nm wavelength (Halpha) to show the flares (white), filaments and prominences. Notice prominence lifting off the eastern limb.
