Second time I've had the telescope out this year, set up in Wangaratta at the in-laws, darker skies than in Melbourne but I'd say the seeing up here isn't as good as Melbourne.
This is 14 hours of RGB that has been very roughly processed on my laptop without proper calibration but that's what I'll deal with when I'm back on my desktop and before the work/life mayhem starts again in a week or so
A few nights between Christmas and New Years, new moon and darker than normal skies. I'd like to capture some sharper Ha when back in Melbourne.

Don't feel to bad if you don't get a lot of comments re the image (HH done to death maybe), I didn't, nice effort though. Its hard sometimes to control the flaring from those bright stars. I believe, although I don't have Pixinsight, there is a method for removing them :)

A pleasant version of a classical scene, especially for the Christmas period, nicely done Colin :)

Nicely processed overall. Alnitak is nicely tamed.
The reflection arc may be most easily simply cropped out. Luckily it on the side.
Horse head is a horror test of baffling and reflections.

Nice! The stars give it a sort of Xmas feeling.
I tried this target last year and just gave up processing. I have fantastic detail in the HH but the reflections just killed me. So good for you.

Onya Col!
This is a real treat mate. Love the colour and stars are just spectacular.
This is a perfect base to integrate your pending Ha which will no doubt bring this image to another level again.
Cheers

Still seeing if I can easily process out the reflections to try to keep the whole frame but it's not gone so well yet. So, quick process with a bit less but higher quality data.

It is a region that certainly does get done to death, the ONLY region I picked it is because the flame nebula is NGC 2024 and the year 2024 was coming to a close.
I've got a lot of family that are heavily invested in horses but not much interest in space nice way to combine the two :)
Aannnnnndd, cropped
I've imaged this region with a few setups and apart from a refractor I've always had reflections of one sort or another. Not as much detail in the HH as I'd like but I don't have any control over the seeing.
Still haven't gotten around to capturing any Ha, will get there at some point I guess.
