Evening all,

Last year I managed to get a great (for me) image of the old favourite - the Horsehead Nebula. This year I had another crack at it - under a full moon, no less.

I've complained about the houses to the north of me that block everything under about 30 degrees elevation. This time, the moon didn't get above 28 degrees elevation, so the houses shaded me from the near-blinding glare of the moon. Seems there may just be something to that saying about clouds and silver linings... :P

Anyway, this is 2 hours of data with the Saxon 102mm triplet@714mm, '183MC-Pro, L-Enhance filter and the trusty HEQ5-Pro. (Last year's gear was the SW72ED@420mm.)

Cheers,
V.

(Yes, it's a bit noisy. More data and darker skies will help a lot with that.)

Nice images !
Although the first one misses the flame nebula NGC 2024.
The other indeed shows all three: IC434, NGC 2023 and 2024.

They are both lovely images Steve!
This time the houses did you a favour, my issue is the trees in the yards of the houses and those second sun street lights.

Thanks, SkySurfer and Leo!

Now I understand the confusion - I intended the subject of my post to mean the different images taken in the years 2023 and 2024, NOT the NGC objects!

I'm a bit slow sometimes....

Cheers,
V.
