A couple of rare clear nights this week with pretty stable conditions so thought I'd battle the mozzies to grab a few shots.

Started on the waxing gibbius moon with a tour around the Mare Humorum. Gassendi & Letronne Craters were nicely illuminated as well as some interesting wrinkles and rilles that I hadn't taken much notice of before. Doppelmayer & Vitello Craters across the basin were more stable than my previous efforts last month and well worth some time with the eyepieces and a capture. A couple of other captures as the seeing fluctuated didn't quite meet expectations...

The conditions were deteriorating quite rapidly after midnight but I couldn't pass the opportunity to catch Jupiter as it approached the meridian with Callisto passing to the North. I opted to stick with the IR685 filter due to the conditions. Grabbed a few captures and selected the best one to post here...and realised this season has not given me a single night of excellent conditions to capture Jupiter  (so far).

The setup...
c14 (non edge) @f11 with asi178mm (IR685 filter)
Lunar: best 2% of 30-40,000 frames, 5ms.
Jupiter: best 5% of 9000 frames (90sec capture), 10ms.
Variable gain to suit the histogram
AS!4, Registax6, PI for some histogram adjustments

Thanks for looking. Comments appreciated!! :)

Funny imaged the same features on Thursday as well, however the weather conditions were marginal in Melbourne, so wasn’t happy with resulting data.

Other than that nice work.

Cheers Anthony

Thanks guys. Yes the conditions have been difficult as of late but sometimes it's just nice to get out there all the same!

Dave,
Looks like a great nights work.Lately the mozzies have backed off a bit since November ( I think Sydney Water have got those treatment plant ponds under control at Warwick Farm )
Stunning images as always !!!
You should think about opening an Astrobin account to showcase your work at full resolution. It’s a great hosting and posting platform to link with IIS.

Cheers
Martin

Nice outcomes David.

Better than what I have done around the same time with similar filters

I think the hot urban landscapes can seriously hurt our low altitude planetary imaging (even with an ADC), .....or perhaps I am just getting more sloppy in my old age.

Love the detail your big aperture scope produces. Another fine set with that reliable set-up you have Dave, never get sick of looking at the results you can achieve with it. Yes those mozzies, they'll find any part of your body that you miised with repellent! :mad2:

Thanks folks
Martin- I’ve not yet made the jump to Astrobin but have been taking advantage of Telescopius which does allow full-res hosting and a profile page of sorts. Certainly not as full features, but pretty good still…
Ross that’s a nice set of images mate and yes I completely agree the urban heat impact on local seeing can be quite severe. I’m surrounded by concrete driveways and roofs and can feel the heat off the concrete even at midnight after a hot day.
Cheers Russell & Michael- always appreciate your kind words!

I’m out attempting some more captures tonight but the seeing is terrible so far…
