Askar 65PHQ Quintuplet APO. (65mm f/6.4 flat field astrograph refractor)
Beautiful little imaging scope. I really enjoyed the super wide field as I was getting back into the swing of astrophotography, however,
as it always does, aperture fever (well, focal length fever really, but they are a function of eachother to a point) bit me pretty hard.
Optically, the telescope is as close to flawless as I've ever owned. The images are bright and sharp right to the very corners of my
IMX294 (I have not required flats for the 4/3" sensor), and sharp, but requiring flat frames with my 35mm DSLR.
Included is the equally as flawless Askar 0.75x dedicated reducer for the 65PHQ, yielding a focal ratio of f/4.8 and focal length of 312mm, providing incredibly wide, and equally flat images.
Again, when I have used this with my 4/3" sensor, I have not required flats to correct vignetting at all...
The 10:1 fine focus has always been a little 'playful' with this scope, however I've only used it with a ZWO EAF, and so I've never been concerned by this myself,
though I'm sure it's just a mechanical adjustment in the focuser away from being perfect..
The scope has been used to capture a number of my best works to date..
