Hi Guys, this photo is just amazing, and talking about being in the right place at the right time.

Anyway this photo was taken by a friend of my brother in-law in Queensland and the photo is of a house under construction.

So as he took the photo of the build progress a lightning bolt decided to liven up the image.:eyepop:

Now surly that is a million to one chance considering the millisecond length of a lightning strike.

Thought it might be of interest ;)
.

Amazing capture, right as it hit.
I've always wanted to capture lightning striking a tree. I've seen it with my own eyes at least twice but never when I've had a camera ready. Actually once when I had a camera pointed at the lightning higher in the sky on a mountain range not to far from where I live. Missed it by that much-

A very rare thing to happen indeed Leon,, your bothers friend would/should be stoked, as you know I done decades of lightning and never jagged one like this yet, even now still rare considering every man and dog has a camera out during a storm :cool2:

I digress and ponder if that house frame is wood or steel (being blue, could be treated ?) Either way, which would come off 2nd best if lightning hit it,, guess a few timbers be replaced easily than hunting the exact pieces of steel after they melt and bend, maybe  :)

I've missed so many AMAZING lightning shots lately with so many huge electrical storms locally but my D810 is in the repair centre and I just can't go back to my old D80, something is just missing. It may be the extra 23.x mega pixels.
That's going to be one VERY strong welded joint Leon, or one big hole blown in the steel. It should never separate.

True Leo, well I am going to Darwin in 3 weeks time for a few weeks to capture lightning strikes hopefully.

I do hope it is nice and stormy.

Usually along the coast is a good place, hopefully you get a bit of both, some nice clear nights too.

Well that is the plan mate, last time I went 2 years ago it was the driest wet season ever, hardly at storm to be had at the time I was there.
