NGC 6559 Chinese Dragon Nebula in HOO

The nights have been cloudy around Sydney for 2 weeks since returning from a trip to WA so decided to reprocess NGC 6559 which was captured back in September and posted as an SHO version.
This time I processed a Bi colour HOO version which ended up having a higher noise floor to work with due to my noisy Oiii data. Capturing Oiii data under B8 skies and a moon around is not pretty , faint signal and lots of noise.
Anyway pushed the detail as far as I wanted to whilst balancing the fine noise grain.
Happy with the detail and contrast through the central core region

3 minute dithered subs Gain 100 , -10C

EQMOD , Stellarium, APT, PHD2
ASTAP
Startools V1.8 via Compose , Colour HOO preset with tweaks

It’s nice to create some different palettes even though they don’t provide any scientific documentary value.

Hopefully heading down Friday down south to clean the place after school holidays ( my eldest son was down with his wife and 4 kids for school holidays) also mow the lawns , tend to the gardens and clean the letterbox out of trash etc….
I have acquired another V5 handcontroller plus some new cables so at least I can do some testing in the garage ( it’s supposed to be cloudy all weekend again )

Nice repro Martin. Definitly an improvement in the detail over the other version (comparing the 2 in astrobin). Think I like this pallet better too.
As always your stars are very nice - I'm just wondering if a session of RGB data might help the stars shine a bit more brilliant as this is such a pretty star field in this region. Productive use of time during these cloudy weeks!

I can usually get away without capturing separate RGB stars in my SHO renditions as Startools has some nifty tools to correct Star colour and morph close enough to RGB. HOO blends are somewhat more difficult as the red halos bleed through and dominate. I guess I’m either too lazy or struggle with enough clear sky time on each object.

Nice detailed result Martone, plenty of little rivulets and ridges in the nebulosity. Yeah maybe some RGB...? Always fun looking at and hearing about your enthusiastic escapades into this convoluted (Richardson-Lucy only of course ;)) hobby of ours :thumbsup:
