AM3 8kg limit

Hi everyone,

I am thinking of buying an AM3 and putting it on an old AVX mount I have. I will have an Esprit 100 + Asi Air, ZWO 2600, Auto Focusser, + all the wires.

Should I get the counter weight? Has anyone run it close to the 8kg limit?

Yes.

You can make your own, or recycle parts from a different mount, but having a counterweight just keeps everything from having any danger of toppling over.

Mount the ASI Air on top of the scope and have those cables as neat as possible, if you have a cable snag up with a strainwave mount it will happily destroy it and anything it is connected to without mercy!
