Hi

I hope everyone is happy and well. While browsing youtube I noticed a video on adjusting the backlash on the Skywatcher Star Adventure Gti and whilst I've read threads on this and seen some images describing such mods/activities the video shows the process more clearly and informatively ...

Whilst my mount is A-OK and has no evidence of this, forewarned is forearmed. The video shows partial disassembly to access the RA & DEC screws, which is great if you want to see the interior detail to do some re-greasing or other mods. NOTE: One of the commenters on the video makes mention that RA backlash adjustment is also possible simply by peeling back a sticker (with a little help from heat/hairdryer) to expose the access hole for the RA Backlash adjustment screw .

My thoughts would be that if your particular mount is prone to have this screw loosen with time, then perhaps a simple screw mod to add a spring washer / thread sealant or teflon tape on the threads would be beneficial in stopping it from loosening over time / load / bumps / thermal cycling, etc....

Have Fun

Best

JA.
Thanks for info, link has been saved just in case it is ever required.

Like you my mount is performing well, touch wood I never have to mess with this mount.

Modification once backlash occurs could be as simple as placing a lock nut on the other side of body the screw goes into. If it can come lose that easily a locking of the nut once adjusted should prevent further issues.

Cheers
