Somewhat shamefully I've had some seriously nice kit sitting in my backyard
for a year or so, gathering dust most evenings.

The recent run of clear weather convinced me it was high time to clean and realign the optics, do a new T-Point mapping run and
expose the big'ish mirror to some ancient photons from...wait for it...

"Frog View" Observatory!

(due the significant number of frogs in our front yard pond...they were making so much noise that we recently had a visitor,
who we called Monty (a diamond Python). Seems Monty likes French cuisine, "Cuisses de grenouille" in particular.

The pond has been a bit quiet of late.

I had hoped for a complete colour sequence...but high cloud rolled in just as the 12th luminance frame downloaded.

To quote Kelly (Ned) and possibly a few frogs..."such is life...."

'nuff said.

Hey Peter although colour would certainly make for a different image I do quite like what you have already produced, beautiful in fact, well done :eyepop:

Ta Leon. I'm quite happy with the star profiles in this one, not too shabby at all, given the working FL of 2400mm :D

Also I've attached a picture of Monty. He was hanging about in some bamboo pots we use to screen the wheely bins. I back-pedalled very rapidly when we first met !

I'll wager a picture of a Diamond Python is a first for the deep sky forum :lol:

As always an excellent image of Tuc with nicely resolved stars right down towards the core.
Yes Sydney has shined over the past month or so with consistent rare clear nights.Atmospheric stability has been up and down ( pardon the pun ) but hey we take what we can get.
Monty will also keep the rodents at bay if the frogs decide to move on temporarily.
Well done !

I've subsequently applied a camera rotation and gone 3x deeper to get a faint fuzzy in the field. Have to say given the 2500mm odd focal length, I'm really happy with the tight stellar profiles.

Sadly the sky flats are a little off due high cloud preceding a cold front running
up the east cost.
