Hello to all,

Here is another HaRGB image of an object not seen too often. This is Sharpless 2-15 an emission region in the south-west corner of Scorpius. It has no NGC or other more common designation but is a very interesting area.

Again a brilliant image Eddie, is that a planetary neb to the left?

Great stuff Eddie wondering the same thing about that object to the left.

Keep those images coming.

Thanks Louie and Paul

That's actually a very bright star mag 4.79 SAO209303 with multiple reflections. This happens occasionally, not sure where the reflections are coming from and not sure I can do much about it.

Sorry I can't either, still it is a great image, one that I would be really happy with.

I am very happy with it Paul.

As with RCW105, these are a couple of my favorites because there are next to no reference images of either so I wasn't sure what to expect from them. The discovery of the rich detail in each makes them more exciting for me compared to more common nebula where you sort-of know what to expect.

Eddie,

have you been able to find anyone on the web who has bragging rights to have taken an image as good as yours?

Fantastic image, and the dust lane definition and area at the centre of the image is awe inspiring.

Thanks Mike,
Actually John Gleason who does mainly only Ha stuff has setup an observatory in Coona (looked after by Steven Lee) just returned to the states after two weeks here and after seeing mine, showed us a sneak preview of the wider area in Ha that he took recently. Unfortunately it's not available for general consumption yet, but when it is I'll post a link.

Thanks Houghy,

If you do a Google image search, you will likely find nothing. If you do an Aladin search you will find images of the area from half a dozen professional sources, AAT, ESO,etc but because they are not deep, there is next to nothing showing up there.

But you probably have seen this object many times before in widefield shots of the Milky Way that include the Scorpius/Sagittarius/Ara border. In those images it would look like a bright patch probably with no significant detail visible.
