View Full Version here: : Saturn moon approach in cloudy Canberra 17 Sept
Thin cloud covered the whole of this event in Canberra which meant the closest captures of the event were the most cloud/moonlight affected. So this later capture had the targets a bit more separated. I used a C6 with reducer and the apc sized 2600mc camera and in processing used curves in GIMP to brighten Saturn a bit on this stack of 22 frames.
I think the relative sizes and brightness in this image illustrates how hard our Saturn imagers have to work to get a nice Saturn image!

Great Shoot'n and shows a great perspective of Saturn in the scheme of things..
Good job
Thanks once again to you Bob, and also to Anthony and David for your kind comments.
As you say it is a nice perspective planetary opposition image. I remember even our local high school putting out a newsletter echoing the hype in 2018 that Mars at opposition was going to look the size of a full moon! That outcome would certainly make planetary imaging much easier :D But our tides would be pretty weird.
It is certainly good to grab a win in this year's tough local conditions for anyimaging at 1000mm focal length and over.
