This image zooms into the heart of the object Sharpless 2-1 showing off the red Ha emissions nestled in amongst the blue/grey reflection nebula. Whilst the 2 degree field of view of my ASI2600/TSA120 combination doesn't quite capture the full extent of this object, it does zoom in quite nicely to show case the interplay between the reflection and emission nebulae with the bright stars contributing to the scene. I'm thinking that a mosaic of this region would be a good plan for next season as there is a wide field of lovely nebulae surrounding this whole region.

That’s an interesting target off the beaten path and very well presented! Colours are amazing! I will have to check out that catalogue a bit more!

Paul, David, Mike,

Thanks for your comments. The Sharpless Catalogue is definitely worth a visit as there are many less travelled paths to be found therein.

I did do a mosaic of the area earlier this year- it’s really quite interesting IMHO

Would be better with a larger sensor of course

Excellent work Rodney!

We don't see too many close-up shots of this.
