Wow - what an emotional roller coaster ride!

Not too sure how much post editing contributed to the kaleidoscope of feelings, but I felt doom and gloom vibes from the judges' initial, somewhat jaded reactions, swiftly intensifying to utter joy, elation and awe as this humble man delivered a most heart felt and beautiful rendition of Nessun Dorma – what an amazing talent!

Cheers

That clip has been on so many TV channels this morning its amazing!!!!

What an amazing voice!!!!!!!!! I hope he goes far

I agree about the judges initial reactions. They expected him to be rubbish. Ha Ha! Fooled em. Ya can't tell a book by its cover.

Classic!!!

I love it when these types of 'talent' shows are forced to judge on talent alone, rather than fluff.

A real victory of substance over style.

It's funny to watch the judge's reactions. It's like "Oh crap!! What do we do here...?" this one doesn't fit easily into a few predictable cliche boxes.

Well done, mate. Whoever you are:thumbsup:

Doesn't sound like an 'Opera' singers name does it. He'll have to change it something like Paulo Potterotti :P

I too saw this performance on TV on one of the morning shows, and it was pretty much as you saw it in that You-tube clip. I was stunned, amazed, and I did feel a wave of emotion run through me as he hit the final notes.

What surprised me almost more is that seeing it again I had exactly the same reaction as this morning, even knowing what was to come. He has a stunning voice and I'm sure he has a bright new career in front of him, regardless of whether or not he wins this tv competition.

My god !!!
He's as good as Pavorotti , and he seems such a humble bloke thats not even that aware of his amazing gift.

Paul Potts to win Britains got talent ! yeah but yas are right , he sure will need to change his name , then again maybe it might make him extra special to be just paul potts .

No I dont think that he needs to change his name, he is who he is and thats speaks volumes. Should not change a thing!

Like everyone else I was blown away when I saw this. I also noticed on Youtube a link to his semi-final performance. If you enjoyed the first one you wont be disappointed.

Well, after watching that 2nd Video that Greg linked to, I believe he should definately keep his own name after he very proudly says "I'm Paul Potts".

WOW!! That absolutely blew me away, such a humble man with an incredible voice!!
He doesn't need to change anything, his voice will make his name famous for being a brilliant opera singer!

In telecommunications circles POTS is short for "Plain Old Telephone Service", ie a standard wired landline.

Perhaps now POTTS may mean "Plain Old Tenor Telephone Salesman". ;)

This guy has an amazing talent: he doesn't miss a note, his timing is perfect, and although I don't listen to much opera (heck, I don't really like opera) Paul Potts sounds to me as good as any I have heard.

Go get 'em Paul!

And I am sure he has a lot of musical training and education. Results like that can not be achieved by singing in the shower only....
Having said that, I did not wanted to imply that his singing is any less beautiful, of course...

Thanks for the links guys, don't watch TV so missed the incredible singing. Great voice, the spirit of Harry Secombe and the Welsh tradition of song is alive and well :-)
The little girl has a great talent too, as long as she's not pushed too hard she could go far.

Thanks John - I hope that he doesn't get too spoiled or damaged by the ensuing fame and publicity that lies before him. It seems that fame has a way of demeaning and destroying people, unless they are very strong and balanced prior to their exposure to the public.

Cheers

Wow! Simon Cowell's response says it all "You are phone salesman, I was n't expecting that!"
I heard that Simon Cowell offered him a record deal before he got to the semi final but cannot confirm that.
Awesome talent. Viva Paul Potts!
