Ta. I do intend on doing a QHY600 re-shoot with the RC16 but suspect that window is rapidly closing. The ordinary winter weather of late has made multi-night sequences rather difficult to obtain....hence the re-pro will have to do for now.

M20 has many nuanced colours that while revealing many physical processes is also striking beautiful. Definitely one of the coolest objects in the night sky. :thumbsup:

Your images are of such high quantity , one wouldn’t think you needed new software or processing tricks.
As always a superb M20 image that one can only dream about whilst imaging in and amongst the weeds with humble entry to intermediate level equipment.

I'm still vexed over independent processing of the nebulosity then stars via
software that can isolate each as I have done here.

You can certainly enhance the nebulosity.

The risk is seriously odd looking stars. Hence I've tried to apply a more subtle approach. As to whether this will be my standard work flow

75 hours with a 10" f4.7 Newt. LRGB Ha O2 S2.
It has nowhere near the resolution you have achieved but goes deeper.

Thanks Alan. To be fair, APOD rendition is impressive for different reasons. The faint dust surrounding the nebula is remarkably extensive in that image.
I've not captured much of that at all.

I have a F6 reducer for the RC16 and am itching to try some deeper high resolution imagery....if the weather ever co-operates. :rolleyes:

A heroic effort to be sure.

My observatory is located in light pollution central, hence it's always a challenge to remove gradients etc. The hope remains we'll get a weekender
near the south coast and move the dome down there...but given the asking prices, might be a pipe dream :lol:

I need to find a site for my telescope too.
I moved to a new place last Xmas which has too much light pollution.
( I couldn't have the best of both worlds)

Maybe some farmer in the county could help me?

We bought our 4 bedroom brick veneer getaway on the South Coast ( where my Obs is located ) back in 2016 on good advice from a friend. He said don’t procrastinate as prices down south will skyrocket within 5 years as the South Coast is the next frontier for retiree’s and young folk who want a lifestyle change. He was spot on , our place has more than doubled in value in nearly 8 years. But then again we are located 150m from the beach on a hill with a small ocean view between gum trees and a view of the mountains behind Conjolla park to the north west. Places on the beach in our area fetch between $3M to $12M which is absolutely ridiculous

There are still modestly priced properties around on the South Coast , you just have to be lucky and definitely no beach views.
