Centaurus A and Bipolar Nebula

Howdy !

To cut a very long story short , I've fixed my RA axis problems .
Below are my first 10 minute exposures . Needless to say I'm happy , I didn't think it was possible : )

Centaurus A
9 x 600 second lights
35 x 300 second darks , didn't have any 600 second darks
20 x .01 second flats
20 x .001 second bias
Cropped by around 50%

Bipolar nebula
2 x 600 second lights , clouds came in
35 x 300 second darks
20 x .01 second flats
20 x .001 second bias
Blotchy and needs much more data . Constructive critisism welcome .

Fantastic image of Centaurus A, Rusty. You've caught a lot of detail in the dust lane across the core - very nice.

Lovely images, Rusty. Cent A is a beauty and you've captured plenty of the gas and dust structure in the central band, and teased the blue glow of an active star forming regions. There's even a hint of the optical part of the galaxy's jets - well done. What filter did you use? Just a UV-IR cut filter?

Fabulous images, Rusty. The Bipolar Nebula is an interesting field that I have not seen before. Does it have an NGC designation - cannot find it in Sky Safari (6).

What was your thinking behind creating your darks at 300 seconds vs your lights at 600 seconds? I thought the conventional wisdom was to create one’s darks at the same exposure and gain settings for your lights.

My apologies Steve , I was certain it was the Bipolar Nebula but it's not . It's IC4603 in Scorpius .
I only had 300 second darks at the time and just used them . I have 600 second darks now : )
