I have just been sitting outside the observatory, enjoying this wonderful clear night sky. My thoughts turned to my great mate Alex, who I miss greatly.

Glen,
I’m sure all of us on IIS echo your thoughts , me included
He was a wonderful bloke who taught me a lot about astronomy but most importantly about life in general.
It’s not the same without him.
As you were very close to him , I’m thinking Alex’s family could contact you for any advice or help regarding his vast array of Astro gear in his estate, obviously a family decision at some stage down the track.
All the best
Martin

Martin, I have been thinking more and more about how I should start downsizing my collection of equipment. My own health issues are impacting the ability to easily conduct astro activities, and while my grand children are interested when they visit, it increasingly rare that it happens at night. They refer to the observatory as Grandpa's Cubby House.

Alex had contacted me via PM and mentioned he had some items he thought I may find interesting. Sadly he passed away before he got to send the items but I'm more saddened by his passing than the box of goodies he was going to send me.

I had offered to pay postage too, I'm poor not tight. I got the shock of my life when I saw the thread about Alex's passing, we'd had some interesting conversations via PM and discovered we'd had quite a bit in common when younger.
