Been dodging the Melbourne clouds over the past two months for this image but now I think that it is time to move on to a new target!

Here is a wide field 'Dragons of Ara' representing about 50 hours of narrowband data and a small amount for RGB stars. Processing mostly in AstroPixel Processor and Photoshop with a brief diversion into to Pixinsight to allow a touch of Blur Exterminator early on in the process (before stretching).

Here is a link to a high-res version on Astrobin (which I have just joined and so still learning the ropes - hope the link works!).

Wow Jon,
what a magnificent picture.
That Planewave DeltaRho 350 is a fantastic telescope 13.8 " at f3.
Also 50h 22′ of integration -
such a long exposure time for super low noise.

I think you should present it for an APOD. :)

cheers

thanks Allan,

the DR350 is a challenging scope (with a 12 micron critical focus zone tilt and other aberrations are your constant companion) but it is certainly nice when things come together...even if only for one image!

That is an outstanding image. Full of detail and a very 3D feel. Well done!
