Clusters Open and Globular in IR Toucam

I spent last night capturing Open and Globular Clusters using the IR filter in the Toucam to see how clean I can get the stars.

They turned out reasonable. See what you think.

M4, M5, M19, M62, 47Tuc, Omega Centauri.

And these are the Open Clusters.

NGC 6124, M23, NGC 6231 Table of Scorpius.

Hi Ken, I think that they have come out very nicely indeed. The globs are well resolved and the open clusters are superb with the spikes in them.

Very nice results, Ken. It's interesting to compare all those globs lined up side by side like that.

Well done Ken. Interesting seeing some of the globulars that I was observing the same evening. Particularly M62 and Omega Cen. Visually M62 was difficult for me to resolve, now I can see what it fully looks like. I also like the open cluster shot of NGC 6124.

I couldn't help putting the Spikes on the Open Clusters.

To me, Open Clusters are . . . mmm . . boring. They needed some oomph! :lol:

Ken,I like the open clusters the best dude...the globs are well resolved but over sharpened mate.

Interestingly, not all the Globs have had 'Sharpening' done, and the 3 that have, had their level raised to 1.7 in only the top slider in Registax. No other sharpening than that.

Mainly, they are all 'out of the camera' and stacked. The only processing done was Gradient removal of Amp glow in the top left corner and Spikes added to the Open Clusters. :shrug:

I even left in the few wierd 'Green' and 'Purple' stars :lol: Dunno where they came from.

Hi Ken
The white point lowered too much will clip the highlights mate and also give It that harsh look as well....try an avoid this.
There is a few of your globs that look like they've been hit by some Highpass which is also to harsh for stars.
Ken,could be that your subs are too long for the saturation point on this camera...how long are these subs? these are all very bright clusters.

Yes, normally they are bright clusters, but since I put in the IR filter they come out dimmer. :shrug:

I started imaging some of those ones Rob, but they look terrible with the IR filter, so I didn't save the images. I actually imaged about 15 Globs, but only liked the ones above, so I didn't save any of the others. I might take the filter back out and give them all a go :thumbsup:
