Hi all,

visited my mother near Bunbury, about 160 km south of Perth for the weekend. On Saturday evening 11 May 2024, we headed to the beach to see if we could see any aurora. About 20 minutes after sunset, we could see a faint glow to the south that got brighter as the evening went on until it started to fade at about 8ish.

Quite a few meteors as well, probably from the Eta Aquarid meteor shower. One really spectacular one that went right across the sky too! Oh, wait, that was a swarm of Starlink satellites.

It wasn't the ideal location as there were still streetlights and houses fairly close by, and bogans driving their 4x4s on the beach, but it was only 10 minutes from my mother's place with easy access. If it was just me, I would have gone somewhere a bit more remote, but it still was OK.

Photos taken with a Canon 6D MkII, with a 20 - 35 mm f3.5, and 24 - 105 f4.
