View Full Version here: : Testing on NGC 5139
Hi All
Over the last month or so i had no Camera, played around with the mount and now have it all operational again.
Thought i would see if all the fiddling did any good, so had a go at Omega Centauri last night, came out pretty well i think.
Only 5 exposures at 45 Sec's @ 800 ISO, Unguided, through the Tak, and using the Canon 5D, In Camera Darks, no Flats, and processed in Image Plus only.
Cheers Leon
Also had a go at Eta, same exposure run as Omega Centauri, hope you like them.

Very nice images, really impressive.
Look forward to much more now you've got the 5D back
Cheers
Doug
Top stuff Leon, you have captured them both very nicely. Omega is well resolved right into the core and I love the colours and detail in Eta.
Top effort

Leon, your mount is tracking very nicely! Good clean stars without guiding
Thanks, Ric, Doug and Ken, yep I'm pretty happy with the results so far, so if the weather stays in my favor, hopefully there will be some more to come.
Cheers Leon

Not bad Leon for unguided shots...most I can get is maybe 30 sec before trailing shows up! and then there is about 25% which are bloopers..
Well done!
cheers
is it just me, or do the stars in that cluster look square?
Hi KGB, now its funny you say that, as i thought the same thing, but put it down to my bad eyesight
Thanks for all your comments.
Leon
Just had a look and the stars are square, still a very good picture.
Eta is excellent in my opinion, very nice colours.
Hmm now i think of it, did you use a square lens on Omega Centauri by any chance? ;) :P
No Mate, no square lens, to be honest i dont know why that has happened, probably when it was reduced in size for posting.

Well done, both are very sharp images!
I love the colours in Eta Carinae. ;)
Pity the entire image is made up of coloued squares. :(
Well done Leon. Looks like you've got a case of the compression artifacts or something. Did you capture Omega Centauri with the FSQ extender-Q or were you operating at the native focal length?
Jase just the native focal length, I have actually never seen that before.
The un-compressed ones are fine, very strange that.
Leon
