What an evening. Not a cloud in the sky, totally calm and not too cool, just warm enough to keep the dew away. Time to get the scope out. :) What to look at?
Quick look at Venus, Saturn and Jupiter, all nice but something different is called for, GALAXIES! Thats why I started with the Eta carina nebula which was just great through the 32mm 2" lens.
Then got serious, Old faithfuls first the Leo Triplet always easy and a good view in the 25mm. Then time for some new chalenges, M61 (Swelling Spiral), M49, and the best for night, M104 (the Sombero) fantastic through the 13mm Naglar, could see the dust lanes quite clearly. Then moved on to elipticals M59/M60 together in the 13mm again. Then last galaxy of the night M90, a bit of a challenge at mag. 11 but still no real hassels finding it.
Using the 32mm and the Telrad as hunting tools then magnifing was easiest I found.
Finished the night with old friend Omega Centauri, great.

Thanks for the report Wade, it sounds like you had a great night with the galaxies and the weather.
I find galaxies are great to image and collect the fine detail but there is something even more special and spectacular when viewing them visually.

Cheers
