Good first effort there Paul. Looks like a lot of field rotation and/or star trailing though, but sorry I can't offer any advice on how to correct it

The dark lane looks very nice though.. just like your M42 i'm sure you'll improve in no time.

The field rotation should not be there, given that I have a field derotator, but if tonight is a good night I will try for Eta Carina again. Trouble is finding a good guide star with the off axis guider. YOu would think that with that amount of stars ther would be one present. Anyway will try again soon.

Great work Paul , i really like the neb structure thats revealed . Have you worked out the focal reducer ?

Yes focal reducer is on, and so too is the field rotator. But cannot use the zero focuser. The light train gets too long and cannot focus. So all I do it just manually focus on a nearby star. The focus on this is a bit out and should have refocused after taking the M42 shots. I think that I got a slight amount of mirror flop, just enough to make this image look a little out of focus. And this was unguided also. Could not find a guide star for the off axis guider (can you believe that with this many stars?). So there is some trailing. However, I am reasonalby happy with this first attempt on Eta Carina. Hopefully I will be able to try again tonight.
