Hi all.

I recently acquired an SBIG STT8300M with an 8 position filter wheel + filters. Problem is that I wasn't provided with the filter positions in the filter wheel.
I've figured out the RGB filter positions but I'm struggling to identify the Ha, Oiii & Sii filter positions.

I've recently taken some images NB of IC2944 (running Chicken Nebula) which I've attached.
Just wondering if someone could take a look and give me their best guess as to which images corresponds with which NB filter? My guess is that Filter 1 is Ha but I'm not sure about the other 2.

Alternatively, if someone could provide me with images of their NB filter shots of IC2944, that would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

I would say Ha, SII & OIII respectively.

I’ll second Atmos
Ha the strongest signal followed by Sii the weakest and Oiii midway

I had a similar problem a while back and found an answer in a post on Cloudy Nights.

The upshot was that when looking through the filter in daylight, the SII will look red, the Ha will look a brighter red, and the OIII will look blue'.

This seemed to work for me

cheers, Jon

Thanks Gents.

I'll try setting the filters accordingly.
If all else fails, I'll follow Jon's suggestion.
