Hi
Browsing the OPT website, I found this entry, a “$1.00” placeholder (http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=319-327-210-9676)for the SBIG stand alone guider, expected to come in at less than US $1,000.
Looks interesting and perhaps a little closer to product realisation?
Cheers

I'd love to have a stand-alone guider like this. I'm a little confused as to the options out there from various suppliers right now. Perhaps when this one is released (so we have full details) we'll be able to do a straight forward comparison of the options and more easily fine one. That'd be nice.
Roger.

Yeah Roger, my thoughts exactly.
SBIG stuff is expensive gear, and more horrendously so when the Aussie $ is weak against the greenback, but I do like their HW and SW and have found their gear to be great workhorses.
I’ll be keen to take a look at this model when it finally surfaces.
Cheers

I wonder if it will be compatible with the SBIG adaptive optics? optcorp has a placeholder for the AO8 adaptive optics unit as well, and they expect the price top be under US$600, which is very favourable compared to the AO7. Some new exciting products due out soon! :)
For a novice at Auto Guiding like me, it sounds like an interesting option, I really don't know much about this side of imaging.
