Cool image, Chris. I haven't seen an image of the Running Man as good as yours in a long time.
How did you get the 6-pointed diffraction spikes? A Takahashi Mewlon? Or a 3D-printed filter for the telescope?
Cheers,
V

Hello Steve,
Th six ray spikes are from the three vane spider in old style Takahashi Melwlon 250.
I don't have any filters, as my backyard ob is under Bortle 1 sky I have never felt the need. Perhaps a moon filter, but I just avoid taking pictures anywhere near the moon. Besides which APP does an excellent job of taking out gradients. The NGC1977 picture was taken on an absolutely moonless night and there was no gradient apparent..
And all my neighbours are kilometers away.

Very ghostly running man Chris/ nice detail in the cloud structure and of course the star spikes are very unique- well done.

Love this take on a classic target. Great cloud detail Chris. Oh, and I’m very jealous of your skies!
