Cometary Globule 4 (CG4)
Taken over three nights this very dim target called Cometary Globule four (CG4 ) and is located in the southern constellation Puppis. It is also known as the Hand Of God.
A very dim target it looks like a giant worm about to devour a galaxy called PGC 21338
Approximately 14 hours of acquisition each 15 minutes long
This has to be the most difficult target I have imaged so far. Bortle 6 skies
ZWO 294MC Pro
ASIAIR
TS_Optics 130 APO riccardi reducer 0.75
Optolong L-Ultimate
Skywatcher NEQ6 belt modded and guiding on average at 0.3-0.6 which for this scope and time was excellent.

I really like the deep and widefield treatment you have given this object.

But the colours are weird and there looks to be noise-reduction or processing artifacts that are masking fine detail (e.g ESO 257-19)

Quibbles aside, it's a striking rendition.

that excellent nick! It is a very good image technically given the faintness. Its sci fi Dune for sure!

Thanks Peter,

Yes there is a bit of noise reduction as I think this needs twice the amount of data collected so far, the colours unfortunately are an issue with the dual band filter as it really ramps up the Ha. i can't seem to find a real colour in any of the renditions I have seen online they are all colour interpreted either magenta'd out or lacking in colour. I could barely capture the galaxy as it was.

Cheers Paul it's a very difficult target from Melbourne.

The Chart32 guys have nailed the colour quite well. Worth a look. ;)

Love it Nik. Great contrast and definition in the ‘hand’ really makes it look like it’s reaching out from the rest of the field. I don’t think you’ll get great detail in the galaxy using the L-Ultimate no matter how much hours you put into it, but perhaps a few dozen hrs of broadband may just do it :P

Maybe a bit of crunchiness in the details and the noise work just a little obvious here and there but wow!.. it's a striking image, particularly the composition

Cheers Mike
It does need more detail for sure

Dave I tried to take some broadband (3 hours)and got NOTHING it's too bright in the city.

I really need to do this in the country

Nik,
From your location using a OSC with dualband this is an awesome image mate
I’ve seen a few quality LRGB + Ha renditions of this target and yours is right up there
Definitely not an easy target

Well done indeed !!
