Driving from Brisbane back to Young on New Year's Day. My overnight stop was Moree. 50km north of Moree I stopped and thought I'd waited out this storm cell. I am about 40km north of the cell when this picture was taken.

When I thought it had moved far enough east, I resumed heading into Moree and drove through the trailing edge of it. Glad I stopped and missed the middle. I was having to make steering corrections due to the strength of the wind and the rain was so hard I had to slow right down with wipers on high. I literally hit the trailing edge of it. 4-5 minutes and I was through. Glad I didn't drive into the middle of it.

I dodged two more with some extended rest stops on Tuesday between Wellington and Cowra. Arrived home dent free.

That's an amazing shot Joe, I bet you're glad you missed the bulk of it.

Absolutely. I sat out there watching it. I thought it had passed the highway and it was getting late. being new years day I didn't want to miss the motel's reception in case they closed early. But I soon found myself in the back edge. There was no lightning but high wind and a river of rain.

Very nicely Caught Joe, Heavy Rain Shafts look awesome from a distance,,.
And Yep, often found Core Punching storms in the past very exhilarating though dangerous if not keeping safe, as in watching for Hail or driving amongst trees, forests etc.
Good Show,,
