All great as per usual!
Number one, I worked with a fellow who did that but his was made of twisted copper wire. I was smarter, working as a forklift technician I found a plastic thing with metal ends like big washers that slipped over the posts, it was cheap for the convenience.
When the fellow showed me I explained it would burn his hand and explode the battery, he didn't listen, hooked it up, rapidly burnt his hand as the wire strap turned red and I got to it fast with cutters to prevent the battery exploding. He wasn't one of the technicians, he was the fellow who ran the machine shop.
Same person machined his brake discs on the big workshop lathe, set it on auto and forgot and ended up with tin foil thickness brake disks. I drove him home and organised a new pair on company account after arguing he would kill himself or others fitting them and driving home.
In saying that the same fellow taught me some very simple ways of bending large sheets of plate steel with pipe which had big plate arms welded on and other tricks with steel from hand made tools, from memory he was Russian and when it came to making tools to simplify tasks he was amazing.
Sometimes however it seemed like his brain just turned off.
