Had a go at this one New Years eve.
Got about 1.5 hours imaging time on this before the moon appeared.
120 second exposures,
asi 2600mc with no filters.
Sykwatcher Esprit 150 with .77 reducer
iOptron CEM120 mount
Roll off roof observatory
Stacked and processed all with PixInsight.

Finally got my mount all sorter and tracking very well
Had to downsize considerably to post here
Any suggestions for improvements are greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Impressive image, Peter. Well done.

Given you weren't using any filters with 120 second subs, I'm surprised Alnitak doesn't have any halo around it. How did you manage that?

Great detail in the nebulosity with the subtle shading and swirls of colour, too.

Cheers,
V.

Appreciate the comments,
Last year i tired imaging this with a filter and got halos, especially around Alnitak.
I just thought i would try imaging everything now without any filters,
So far this seams to be by far the best option for me at least.
For calibration frames, I just use Lights, Darks, Flats, Bias
I don't use any Dark Flats.

Peter
That worked a treat-looks perfectly fine to me with all the hallmarks that makes this nebula so impressive- love the detail in the flame and the horsehead itself.
Well controlled processing -
Would love to add this camera to my setup.
Well done
Anthony

Such a good image and only 1.5 hours integration! Mine was close on 4.5 hours and nowhere near as good as yours!
