Stunning images!
I learnt long ago that I'm not as fast as I like to think and without having built the sound trigger (I have everything somewhere in a little box to build it) but instead I go out during an electrical storm, camera mounted on tripod, lens wide open and ISO down no faster than 400 with an intervalometer, camera on "bulb" and hand hold the shutter open for a count of 10 seconds (approximately), release shutter and try again. If I capture (or see the lightning while holding the shutter open) I release it around 1 second after I've seen the strike.
I have some nice photos of lightning.

My first ever successful shot taken with 35mm Nikon while sitting on the ridge capping on a tin roof in Young (NSW). Absolute insanity!
Either my brain grew or my cods shrunk.
