I published an LRGBHa version of this field in November last year [link here to Astrobin] (https://astrob.in/vgpmsa/C/) and have now grabbed OIII and SII to produce this narrowband rendition. I think that the scene tells a story of a epoch long fight between the dragons and the superior dragon is now flying in to the scene from above and seriously getting on top of its adversary.

From a technical (and less romantic) perspective, this is a four panel mosaic of the area surrounding the emission nebula NGC6188 taken with a Tak TSA120 OTA and QSI683 CCD camera. The OIII and SII data were captured this year and the Ha data captured in 2021 and 2022. Mosaic composition was completed entirely in Pixinsight using the Mosaic by Coordinates and Photometric Mosaic processes.

The Astrobin post includes a mouse over showing the starless version.

Thanks Allan, the total hours does blow out when doing a mosaic. Being a four panel mosaic that is roughly 30 hours a panel. Made a little more realistic in that I used the Ha data from the previous project and added the OIII and SII captured this year. Good thing that the photons don't go stale when sitting on the computer disk drive :D

Great result Rod, all the basics we look for in an image covered very nicely, sign of a skilled processor .... one for the Whisky room wall I'd say my good chap

Thanks Nik/Mike. I like the idea of having a dedicated Whisky room in which to hang astro images. I have a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 YO Single Malt that I could savor whilst admiring the works :D.

I don't think i've ever seen this target presented in this orientation. The composition and your romanticised explanation makes for a fantastic image.

Thanks Josh, the wider field with the mosaic provides the opportunity for different compositions. I particularly liked this orientation as it allows for the nice wide display of the 'wings' on the dragon as it flies into the scene.
