I finally had a few hours of clear skies last night (this morning?). I stuck my head out the door just before midnight and saw that the cloud had gone away. So not wanting to waste it, I finally had the opportunity to test out the new (to me) Tak FSQ-106ED properly.

I really only had one goal, Create a usable image in the time available, ~4.5 hour.s So my target needed to be bright.

Since first learning of the Rosette Nebula, It's been on my list. I attempted this back in late 2019 (https://www.astrobin.com/zpb4aq/B/), and while it was OK, I've always wanted to revisit. My desire to revisit has only increased since learning that it is also known as the "Flaming Skull Nebula."

That is the aspect I am attempting to accentuate here.

Anyway, I am Incredibly impressed with how this turned out for only ~3.5hours of data.

See it big on AstroBin (https://astrob.in/be08j5/0/)

Thanks for looking and Clear Skies!

Yeah, a great 1/2 nights work Josh ... sometimes ya just gotta take and complete, an image, to satisfy that lingering, compulsive hunger and it's often the Moons fault

Thanks Mike! and yes, it feels good to "complete" an image. even if it's barely scratching the surface of how much time i want to put into it. That being said, I'm so pleased with how the TAK performed. the data is so clean.

Nice image Josh, my imaging time if often limited by my other daytime activities so sleep is imperative, I don't trust the weather nor have the luxury of full automation, as an example I set up last night the sky was clear to do 4hrs on a target within an hour clouds rolled in out of nowhere so I had to shut up the shop :)

Thanks Trevor! My imaging time at the moment is limited by clouds... endless clouds...

But there seems to be a bit of a break coming this week for the December new moon cycle, so hopefully I can really put the setup to good use and capture some useful data.
