NGC1365 taken in the Flinders Ranges in SA. 12 hours luminance and 2/2/2 RGB on an RC8 with a ZWO 294MM camera. 12 hours of Ha from the suburbs of Adelaide added for some enhancement, but honestly barely changed it at the level I added it, and not worth the bother!
A challenging week dodging clouds and various software issues - including a runaway high speed slew that had me diving for the mount's power cord!!

Hey Paul, really nice and natural looking. I personally love NGC 1365. It stands out so majestically within a large cluster of fuzzies. Great job. 👍🏻

A ripper of an image I would have assumed just looking at it was done by a much larger scope.

Thanks so much Greg. I think the little 8" is a nice compromise between something I can lift and something that can give decent results.

That’s an unbelievably good shot! And yes as per Greg’s comment wow to get that level of detail from an 8” is really exceptional. Colourful but still very natural in appearance. Excellent work!

That's a great shot of this majestic crowd pleaser of a galaxy Paul, another worthwhile trip, well done :)
Blur Exterminator aside ;)..in the end, the seeing is what will help a larger scope get better resolution, otherwise modest apertures do very nicely...just like we see here :thumbsup:

Thanks, Mike. Yeah. I doubt the seeing there would allow greater resolution from a larger scope. Best I think I got was 2.3" FWHM. But still interested in a slightly larger scope I can still lift as that could give the same image faster - and given I don't have an observatory and make these cloud-constrained trips to dark skies, speed of imaging is key.

Know exactly what you mean, have you considered an Astroworx (https://astroworx.com.au/) scope?
With the fast F4 and coupled with a small pixel camera they are the bomb :)

That's fantastic Paul!
I had one of those 8" RC's a long while back - and from a resolution perspective I don't think I ever saw anything close to this level of detail out of mine!
That central bar looks, as someone else said, like it came out of a much larger scope!
What modifications/alterations (if any) have you made to your 8" RC?

Thanks so much Alex. No mods - except for extending the baffle tube a bit recently to fix the issue with it being too short (it is one of the old ones). Just collimated carefully - though the collimation is still a little out. Bortle 1 skies help a lot :)

Thanks Luis. Yes, LRGB. Also an Ha filter - though the Ha data didn't really have much of an impact on the final image and so could have been left off.
