I managed to find some nice detail on our Moon during a spell of settled seeing on 21st October 2023.

Captured in SharpCap, processed in Autostakkert!3, Wavesharp and PS. Best 1,000 frames from 5,000.

Excellent set of images Dennis , some great resolution provided by the seeing. The amount of tiny craterlets on the Mare Serenitatis that are revealed is impressive. Without actually doing measurements (lazy) it would suggest a resolution approaching less than a kilometre, from a backyard about 340,000 kms away !

Thank you Matt, Steve, Jeff and David, I appreciate your comments.:)

@Jeff – I did have a quick look at the Virtual Moon Atlas and I suspect that I was able to resolve down to 1 – 1.5 kms due to the good seeing and the slanting illumination.

It was quite special to not only have a clear night again, but good seeing too.:)
