I was in Bintel the other day looking at Skywatcher GTi mount and the staff member there told me Skywatcher takes the illuminators off their mounts becuase they use button batteries which are dangerous for kids.
Is that true? Using a polar scope without an illuminator is an exercise in frustration. It can be done but it's really awkward.
Any suggestions on illuminated polar scopes?
Vixen has a nice one but it retails in Oz for $692! Wow.
Perhaps I can drill a hole in the side of one of my older Vixen polar scopes and add one of those Tak ones that look like a battery,
There's also a Skywatcher one that sticks on the end of the polar scope and has a crude on off rotating switch which is uncertain to turn off.
Greg.
