I was trying to get a shot of some Fairy Wrens and was literally crawling through the undergrowth to hide from them when I came to a clearing near a small creeklet. This little fellow came to within 2 metres of me to make a burrow in the soft soil for somewhere safe to lay their eggs. Normally a Tree Canopy bird, these small birds are often heard but not seen, I was lucky to be in a position at the right time of day to take this shot. Fujifilm XT100 with a Tamron 500mm mirror lens.

That's a superb image of this quite difficult to photograph bird.
The image quality is excellent, I would not have guessed it was taken with a mirror lens, although the BG bokeh does give it away a little.:)
Well done.

Thanks Steve, glad you liked it.
Thanks Dennis, this lens is a beauty, must have been made on a Monday morning at the start of the production line! It's really sharp if you nail the focus but depth of field is very shallow. Yes, the Bokeh can be distracting at times but when you can find a neutral background to shoot in front of, it's fine. An example is this shot taken of it moments later.
