Up for sale is my Early 2000's Swiss Fortis Flieger Stainless Steel military style wristwatch.
Model: 596.10.148.
20mm lugs,40mm case size w/o crown, ETA 2893-2 movement! Sapphire crystal, with 22mm wide watch strap.
.
Please read carefully:
History of the watch- In the early 2000's I was taking my partner's watch to be repaired, here in Sydney. The watchmaker noticed that I was wearing a Rolex Submariner. He asked if I would be prepared to sell it? I had bought that Rolex some 20 years prior, and had never had it serviced. It looked somewhat beat up.
He offered me the new Fortis, with a cash adjustment. The deal was done, but I asked if he would remove the GMT hand, as I preferred the look of the watch without it.
The watch will need servicing, and a clean. In the past 20 years, I have had it serviced only once. It can randomly stop, only to start again with a shake. There are some light scratches on the Sapphire crystal.
Because of the above, the asking price has been set accordingly.
I no longer have either the boxing, or the orange GMT hand.
In my humble view, I think it's one of the best military style watches that have been produced.
Reason for sale? Always felt too big on my skinny wrist.
