Hi guys.

Some of you will remember a short while ago I asked for advice on reference material for a TV segment I've been lucky enough to get involved with on the ABC.

Well, I'm happy to report that as of today I've now wrapped up my fourth segment on the show 'SkyWatch'.

It screens on ABC 2 (digital) every Monday night with host Glen Nagle and is part of a show called 'Australia Wide'.

Glen's a great guy who does terrific work out at the Deep Space Centre at Tidbinbilla and I feel very honoured to have been asked to get involved with this show.

My involvement at this stage is as a sort of 'roving reporter' and I am responsible for a little segment called "The Night Sky'.

It's a great opportunity and I am thrilled to be involved with this type of project.

What is equally exciting is the opportunity I'd like to extend to IceInSpace members to have their photographic work part of the show.

From time to time I will need to source astro pics of all sorts of objects to demonstrate 'on screen' the objects I am talking about.

I would really like to be able to show off some of the great work (fully credited, of course :D) that so many of our members do to a TV audience, rather than always run with a NASA pic library shot or something else sourced from people I don't know.

So, I hope you don't mind if I get in touch via pm from time to time to ask if I can show off your images if they relate to a story I'm doing?

I'll also post a 'request for pics' thread as well in the General forum calling for submissions.

Mike, I hope that's OK?

Anyway. Just wanted to share the good news....for me... and potentially for you.

Regards

Matt

Onya Matt!

I have loads of pics that you can put on the TV show!

They aren't any good but you can have them

1. My very 1st Mars
2. My very 1st 47Tuc
3. My best Saturn (an oldie but a goodie)

Seriously, congrats and enjoy the task. It sounds great

Excellent stuff Matt, that's great news.
I'm going to have to get one of those digital encoder thingy's for the tele. This is one show I don't want to miss.
Do the images have to be of a certain size?

Cheers

Hi Ric.

Thanks for the kind wishes.

You can actually visit the ABC 2 website and search around and view past episides on-line. So no need to race out and buy a digital receiver, unless you want one:)

As far as the images go, I think it's best to submit them in high resolution. I'll check with the show's producer to see what the minimum specs are for TV and get back to you.

Cheers

Hi Matt, I've been thinking about it for a while ABC2 has some great music shows that I want to see as well.

I have a luminescence image of Omega Centauri, I can send you a copy to have a look at.

I can picture you as the next Patrick Moore

Hi Ian.

My first episode doesn't go to air until next week, but certainly check out past episodes.

Glen Nagle does a great job and is the real driving force behind the show.

All my images are with the Toucam

Sorry Matt, I don't think even my best Omega Cent will cut the mustard for your needs.

Don't worry, Ken.

Over the course of coming months we'll touch across a broad range of topics and that will include webcam astrophotography.

We'll talk about the ToUcam and what it's capable of - both planetary and DSO, and mate...take it from me I'll be calling on you for some of your great DSO shots with this humble little webcam:thumbsup: No doubt about it.

Cheers
