SN 2023RVE Supernova in NGC 1097

Discovered on 8th September in the UAE I was really keen to capture this before it disappears given its ideal position for us southerners. Unfortunately the sky after this heat wave on the east coast although clear was horrible and with stars masquerading as fuzzy blobs on screen guiding was not even possible lol. It settled down a tad in the early morning- and from an entire night could salvage just under 3hrs of data (mostly just pre-dawn/at first light) and with reported FWHMs in the 4-6 range from my B7 city location :help: ...

I'm keen to capture some better data on this one but thought I'd post my initial result showing the SN. Even though not the best pic, its still blew my mind just taking it in that this single star, in a galaxy 45 million light years away, is now being observed here and now clearly and so bright!

Got a couple of hours of good (not great) conditions on Friday and an hour of great seeing last night to add to the original data. Bit of an improvement overall I reckon! If I could've accumulate enough I'd chuck out the entire first nights efforts lol. Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks Anthony! Yes it’s a lovely target with lots of lovely detail to reveal. Just wish my sky was a bit darker lol!
