Trifid Nebula

Hi, I thought i would just go all out and give Pixinsight and attempt to learn how to use it.
Definitely a steep learning curve here.
Still a long way to go, but this is my attempt of the Trifid Nebular.
Not much data.
Skywatcher Esprit 150
ASI 2600mc at -10, gain 101
9 x 300s lights / 20x Darks, / 40x Flats

Had to reduce the size considerably to post it here.
Needs a far bit more work, got a tad carried away with reducing the stars a bit.
The second processing attempt is a try with a few more stars, still a working process.
Always appreciate any advice for improvements.

Great images, Peter. You’ve already captured some of the subtle detail in the reflection nebula and more data will help make it even better. It’s always a personal choice but I’m def in the ‘it needs stars’ camp and think the 2nd image looks more natural. Like you, I tend to play with the stars until their inclusion looks about right, ie. star field is present and obvious without being a distraction. Hence why I usually (but not alway) process stars separately to the target - you obviously do the same. Btw, I love the gear you used … esprit 150 + 2600mc <drool>
