It has taken me somewhere between 4 and 5 years to learn everything and get my first shot .
I know it's not great but it's my first .

No enhancements .

That's a great image, I have been doing this for a few years and still not getting images that good.

Really ?
I collected that information a few months ago when Alpha Centuri was visible from my location .
I ran it all through Pixinsight which took most of the day , my computer was choking on it .
The result was washed out , still sharp but I didn't think it was much chop .

God knows how I got it . A few weeks ago I couldn't even get a calibration in PHD2 because I had develpoed so much Dec backlash .
I decide to trouble shoot EVERYTHING .

I found and completely fixed the Dec backlash , identified and fixed a small amount of backlash in the RA axis . Checked the belts on the mount drives , removed a Farpoint adjustable deck which my guide scope was sitting on which was wiggling like you wouldnt believe . I couldn't get my PC to talk to the mount and PaulSthCoast suggested I move on and get a ASIair .

I ordered it and downloaded the ASIStudio . That's when I came across ASIDeepStack . I put it all through ASIDeepstack in around 15 minutes and although still sharp the result was far better .

Mate, you have done well really. I have disassembled my NEQ6 due to backlash issues, I know how much of a pain it can be to get them back together and working well.

Even with the issues you had with your mount your stars are not that bad, your star colour is great. The nebulosity is nicely brought out, but not over worked. The colours are subtle and visible across the whole image, the purples in there make it pop. You can even see the black regions very well.

Not every image needs to blast out of the screen, sometimes images like this show quality and attention to detail.

So yeah I reckon its a bloody good image.

Okay , I'm still trying to figure things out . I assumed 10 minute subs and 50 hours of data was the standard but I can see what you mean .
I suppose each subject has it's own sweet spot or multiple sweet spots ?
Subtle is sometimes just as good ?
