Each month we run the Photo Challenge.
The challenge is set by the previous month's winner.

The topic this month is "Macro"

Haven't played before? No worries.
We are always on the lookout for new contestants.
So grab a camera, go exploring, and have a go.

The Fine Print:

* This is the Entries thread. Only for posting your entry, and its back story.
* We prefer the entry to have been taken this month but images taken in the past are also allowed if you haven't had the opportunity to take it this month.
* Comments on other entries are not allowed here, but can be posted in the "Comments and Other Images Thread". (https://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=206948)
* Additional images may be posted to the "Comments and Other Images Thread". (https://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=206948)
* Entries are limited to one image per person.
* Of course, the image must be your "own work".
* All other forum rules, and image size limits, apply.

The "winner" will be determined in the voting thread, run at the end of the month
and will get to choose next month's topic and have their photo immortalised in our "Photo Challenge Hall of Fame". (https://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=3355)

I've done a bit of Macro underwater - relatively easy as the cameras are all well designed for that.

This is my first go at land-based...

Louie kindly modelled for me

Equipment
Basic canon 18-135mm IS USM with a reversing ring, DLSR on a tripod.
(No Autofocus, fully manual exposure)
Lighting was an LED torch hand held just to make it a bit more awkward.

Seemed to work ok though!

We have a Paper Wasp nest on a shrub in our back garden.

This was taken early in the morning after a very humid night, when the Wasps were still snoozing on the nest. The dew formed some beautiful droplets on the Wasps.:)

Tripod mounted, taken with a Canon MPE-65 F2.8 macro lens which is manual focus only. This was taken at a macro ratio of around 2.5:1 and is a stack of 20 frames to extend the depth of field.

Took this pic of an unknown flower at my last house, never found out its name but probably a native. The flowers measure about 6mm across and certainly very hard to make out a lot of detail with the naked eye.

The Bees are active in my garden. This image was difficult to take as Bees are always moving and to get close to them - well !!
Single exposure with hand held Canon 550d on manual settings.

Being as it was taken with a 55-250mm on full zoom, hand held, I suppose
it is not what most people would call macrophotography, but I've entered it
anyway. If it is not accepted, so be it.
