Dragons of Ara

Thought I'd try Dragons of Ara. This is a difficult target with my unmodded DSLR and no light pollution filter in Brisbane.
quattro 250 newtonian, EQ6R,
Siril, GIMP
Lights 336x 1min, F 100, 40 each of D, DF, B.
I'm experimenting with different durations of flats, but this is with my usual 0.5sec flat method with LED tracer light board.

Nice sharp image which may benefit from a filter even a dual band filter that can fit your DSLR.

Thanks Nik, which filter would you suggest. I have been considering an optolong CLS clip in filter.
I honestly was surprised that I got anything with my unmodded camera for this target. It looks a bit dark on my mobile phone, but looks better on my compter's monitor. Maybe I have the brightness up too high on my monitor.

You'd be better off with the Optolong L-enhance at the least as this will bring out more of the nebulosity but still allow more light in as opposed to the L-ultimate which means much longer exposures. Optolong offer a clip in L-Enhance as well

Thanks Alex and Shawn. Alex I just discovered that this image is not exactly natural. While trying some reprocessing of this image I noticed that the stars are in the wrong positions! I think I reorientated the starless image and forgot to reorientate the starmask. So when I recombined the two, the stars went into the wrong positions. I have corrected this and attached the correct image here. But I think I prefer the photo with the stars in the wrong positions! I'll think about this a bit more.

Lovely image fellow Brisbanite; subtle colours with a moody contrast and I’m impressed what a broadband image can show for this target :-) I do however prefer the image with the correct star locations. As others have said, try a filter that narrows down the spectrum, eg. a modern LP filter (I’m really liking the Antlia RGB Ultra). Even better would be a dual NB filter. Alex
