Hi
I have question that someone on here may be able to help with. I have an old Fujica SLR that must be 40 / 45 years old by now and it has an Fujinon 50mm f1.8 lens mounted. Now Fujinon were / are regarded as being of good quality optics and rather than bin the lens, the camera is faulty and I haven't used film for near 15 years.
Is it possible to get a Fujinon to M42 adapter or Fujinon to EOS so that I could use the lens with my digital cameras.
Thanks in advance if you know if and where adapters can be sourced, have tried Ebay but nothing comes up in a search.
Cheers

If, rather than going into ebay directly, you google "adaptors for Fujinon lenses to Canon EOS" you will find that Amazon sell such adaptors, and also
some are offered on ebay. I assume that the aperture and focus on the Fujinon lens are manually set, as I suspect that the adaptors would not connect electronically.

Hi Jeff,
It would help to know if on the front of the lens whether it is labelled X-Fujinon ? If so this indicates a bayonet mount and likely 43.5mm flange focal distance, otherwise it might be an older screw mount lens for which I'm not sure of the FFD, which is important in assessing if an adaptor is possible/available.
If it's Canon EOS (which Camera BTW?), then it has a 44mm FFD and so an interposing adapter isn't possible, given the Fuji mount's likley 43.5mm FFD since there is no available space to fit the adpater (in fact there is NEGATIVE 0.5mm, not even counting the thickness of the adpater, i.e: not enough). When I say it's not possible, it isn't possible using a simple mechanical adapter, BUT one could possibly try and find/make an adpater WITH OPTICS, but I doubt that exists or would be economicaly viable to customise.
Maybe an M42 mounting would be possible depending on what camera/s your were planning to use it with. It could work on say an astrocamera or mirroless camera which typically have much shorter Flange Focal Distances than DSLRs. So that begs the question: what other cameras were you thinking to use it with?

Thanks for the replies, didn't expect any so soon, sorry I didn't say that the Fujinon lens is an bayonet mount in the original post. Can't put my hand on the camera at the moment so don't know if the lens has an X-Fujinon marked on it.
FFD is not really an issue, can play with that via spacer rings
What I'm hoping to achieve is being able to mount the lens to my ZWO 294 MC or rather to the filter draw, so an m42 thread would be easiest, for some wider field imaging, not to attach to my Canon DSLRs'. Seems like too good a lens not to use, though I have some old Zuiko lens as well that I have adapters for. The lens would only be manually set.
Too many cameras , too many lens, too many telescopes, all gets a bit confusing sometimes, but I'm not a hoarder !!!
Will try your suggestion of Amazon Raymo, though not a great fan of the company.

Searched as suggested but all the adapters that came up were for M42 lens to Fujica cameras, I want an Fujinon bayonet mounted lens to M42 adapter. Seems like they don't exist or they're rarer than Unicorn droppings .
Not that they are useful to you anyway, but even the M42 lens to Fujinon camera adapters you found are not the the correct THREAD PITCH. M42 Lenses are M42 x 1mm pitch threads, whereas you need M42 x 0.75mm pitch to suit your ZWO camera and most other astrocams.
If you had Canon or Nikon then ZWO make the correct adapters, but not for Fujinon X mount. The only thing you could try is have a custom adapter made or diy something, which wouldn't be easy, although you might be able to Jimmy something up using a suitable length Fuji extension tube as it already has a female fuji-x mount bayonet on one side and some how meld it with the ZWO 11mm plain outside M42 adapter, whilst at the same time ensuring that you hit the correct flange focal distance from lens flange to sensor

This might be a long shot, but have you tried looking on various Japanese camera store websites? (I will warn you, most of the websites are awful relics from the 1990's webpage design school, and Google translation will only get you so far...)

I am aware that there is a difference in thread pitch and that does make for more complications in adapting lens to cameras. It would be ideal if there was a standard 1mm pitch for all photographic and telescope gear, would make life a bit more simple for us.
It may be a case of removing the female bayonet mount from the old Fujica camera and afixing that to an T42 adapter somehow. May not be worth the trouble though as I have other lens options anyway.
Thanks for your input everyone, most appreciated.
