Accidental target.
Is it an accident if you didn't have a plan in the first place?
While testing the SVbony SV220 filter I stumbled upon NCC 7000. I was pleasantly shocked to be able to even get this at max 19 deg and the trees to the north. The eastern half is mostly (3/4) obscured by trees. The western half ends up pointing towards a truck stop off in the distance, of course that's nothing compared to what our city brethren endure so I won't complain (is that even allowed? :D)

I started with ~180 x 60s but wasn't happy so went and played elsewhere for a bit. When I came back I grabbed 38 x 180s and smashed them all together, like 2 Barbies kissing, artistically of course - I'm not an animal.

You must be very happy with your filter. I looked at your image before I looked at the details and I must say I got a shock when I realised you used the ZWO 2600 MC...

Seriously a suburb result.

John, as Alex has said, a superb image and only 19 degrees above your horizon makes it even more impressive. It doesn't look like the low altitude did much damage to the seeing and transparency, great job!

It took a few moments for my inner babel fish to interpret the title - I had a good chuckle. Great looking image John, the palette modestly accentuates the details which is very pleasing to my eye, and the contrast between the dark nebula and Oiii is excellent - your SV220 is a winner. I'm jealous of your northern view - mine is right over the burbs with all it's light polluted glory. I had a better view back in Canberra <sigh>. Oh, 2 Barbies kissing is arguably socially acceptable these days, isn't it? :rofl:

Cheers Alex, very happy with the filter given the price and my "untested" reservations. The filter is a ripper for the money. PI's PixelMath "normalised" the colours, as you can see the original was red and I was really happy with it but when I gave it BB's HOOnorm. so much more detail came out. As always the image tells me what it wants and it sure liked that.

Thanks Michael, I am in B3-4 so no real complaints. This is from the easy setup spot, on the good spot I have I can chase northern targets down to about 5 degrees if I'm being, well, silly.

Cheers Alex. I'm genuinely just thrilled to be able to get it. I got the same thrill when I realised I could get Andromeda. The many more clear nights up here has to make up for it a bit. And the best bit, you don't have to say you're from Canberra anymore :D The Barbie thing might actually be mandatory now? or is that the anime? I don't know, I get confused. Just between us, I just mentioned Barbie so I'd get more likes on the internet.

Great pic John. BBs pixelmath is always fun to use. I always muck around with the values. I also get a very different pic if i use paulymans foraxx. Hard pic to get hold of.

Cheers Steve & Dave, I am indeed very lucky to have these skies. It is funny though, we all seem to have a tree we'd like to cut down :)
