I've been working on this the whole weekend, I just love the range of colour in this object. Its a three panel mosaic of IC1396 The Elephant Trunk Nebula. *Imaged with the 16in ODK and ASI2600 remotely from Spain.........Imaged at 1x1 then software binned 2x2...

Exposure time was only 40mins in each RGB channel for each panel, all 60s unguided on The DDM85.

Here is a short video showing the setup just after rebuilding it

Thanks for looking

Lovely colours there Pete, with lots of details (that link goes to a small image though ), don't often see this object in an RGB palette either, suits it and I like the banner framing too

Interesting re the strip down, rebuild and collimation of the ODK, you happy with it now?

ah thanks Mike link now fixed ....click and it will lead you down the path to the full res if you want.

Its actually a stunning scope...now!! it had some awful stars when I first got my hands on it and the flex was horrendous....took some work but its just lovely now.

Silky smooth, tight varied star colours, delightful highlight and shadow. Accurate colour.

What's not to like? Superb!

Thank you Peter

Thanks Greg...I was going for moody

It was another on the list that I've done in the past but never been happy with...this one I'm really happy with....

The work on this was a massive task to get how I wanted it...Its a popular one up here in the North especially in Narrow Band....I do have the pier working on some Narrow Band at the moment.

Thanks Dave...I am really please with it....was comparing it to one I took a few years back with my 12in ...I know its not a completely fair comparison but it does show how the techniques have moved on

That's a great image Peter. Some real focal length imaging.

That's a top image Peter,
you are really cranking out some wonders lately.
I notice you didn't use a Luminance filter.

Why was that?

Are you saying that the scope arrived from OOUK and
you had to do considerable work to get it going properly?
I've seen a DDM85 mount - they are exceptional mounts.
Robot imaging from Spain is obviously much better than the UK.
Well done and I hope to see many more images from you.

cheers

Generally I dont use Luminance, sometimes I will create a pseudo Luminance by combining the RGB but not for this one.
This 16in ODK was bought second hand. I dont think the chap who had it managed to get on with it. When I got my hands on it it was in a terrible state, with the ugliest stars and flex like you wouldn't believe. I had to strip it and rebuild it, the geometry of the scope was out so in it's condition wouldn't collimate properly....but it turned out to be a stunning scope in the end.

Thank you
